Sarah Faya, 21, was charged with motor vehicle homicide-DUI and was held on $250,000 bond.

Omaha police have identified the victim of a fatal crash involving a pedestrian and arrested the driver for motor vehicle homicide-DUI.

Officers were called to a person hit by a car around 10:23 p.m. Police arrived at the scene near 26th and Lake streets and found the vehicle, a 2005 Toyota Corolla, on its top.

The victim, identified as 37-year-old Ashley Dotson, was rushed to Nebraska Medicine with CPR in progress. Dotson was pronounced dead at the hospital.

After an investigation, OPD determined that the Corolla exited Highway 75 at Lake Street at a “high rate of speed.” The driver, identified as 21-year-old Sarah Faya, started to make a left turn onto Lake Street and lost control. The car spun and rolled over, then crossed over the sidewalk on the west side of the ramp.

Dotson was hit as the vehicle rolled, according to OPD.
