How Much Does An Inheritance Advance Cost?

An inheritance advance has a fixed cost, not a monthly interest rate. Your quote shows what you receive now and what you assign from your inheritance.

Ask TriMark™ explains how inheritance advance pricing works and why the cost can differ from one estate to another. See a simple cost example, learn what affects your quote, and find out what to check before accepting an offer.

How Much Does An Inheritance Advance Cost?

How Much Does An Inheritance Advance Cost?

The cost of an inheritance advance is the difference between the cash you receive now and the amount assigned from your future inheritance.

We show you both amounts in your offer so you can see the cost before deciding whether to accept it.

There is no single price that applies to every heir. The amount you request, the inheritance you expect to receive, and the details of the estate all affect the offer we can make.

Other inheritance funding companies may price the same request differently, which is why it is worth comparing written quotes.

An inheritance advance is typically priced as a fixed amount, rather than interest that keeps accruing each month.

When comparing companies, you may see costs described as a percentage of the cash advanced; published examples of flat-rate pricing range from 10% to 50% of the advance amount.

How Much Will An Inheritance Advance Cost In Dollars?

Example: You need $10,000 immediately.

An inheritance funding company agrees to wire you $10,000 now, and in exchange, you agree to assign $12,000 from your inheritance when the estate distributes it. The difference between the two amounts, or $2,000, is the cost of the inheritance advance.

You would receive $10,000 of your inheritance immediately, with no upfront fees or out-of-pocket costs, and no monthly payments.

Whenever the estate is distributed, $12,000 is automatically deducted from your share and sent to the funding company, and the remainder is sent to you.

Example OfferAmount
The amount of cash you receive now$10,000
The amount assigned from your inheritance$12,000
Inheritance Advance Cost:$2,000

(For illustrative purposes only. Actual amounts will vary based on the estate, expected distribution, and funding offer.)

What Affects The Price Of My Advance?

We review the estate and your expected share before quoting a price.

Two heirs who ask for the same amount of cash may receive different offers because their estates differ.

Factors we consider may include:

  • How much cash you request
The amount you want now helps determine how much of your expected inheritance would need to be assigned.
  • The value of your expected share
We need to establish what you are likely to receive after the estate’s obligations are addressed.
  • The estate’s assets and debts
Claims, expenses, taxes, and other obligations may affect the amount available for distribution.
  • The status of probate
The work remaining before the estate can distribute funds can affect our assessment.
  • Disputes or competing claims
A contested inheritance, prior advance, lien, or other claim may affect whether we can make an offer and on what terms.

Is An Inheritance Advance Cheaper Than A Loan?

An inheritance advance and a traditional loan are vastly different financial products, and they charge for money in different ways. As such, “cheaper” is a relative term.

The better option depends not only on total cost and obligations, but also on your creditworthiness, available collateral, and your ability and willingness to make regular monthly payments.

With a traditional loan, you must repay principal and interest in scheduled payments. Depending on the loan agreement, missed or late payments may also result in additional charges and may negatively impact your credit score.

With the inheritance advance we offer, there are no monthly payments. The agreed amount is assigned from your inheritance and paid automatically when the estate distributes it.

That does not automatically make an advance cheaper than every loan. Compare the dollars you would give up under each option, and also consider whether you have the credit scores and collateral to qualify for a traditional loan

Are There Application Fees Or Hidden Costs?

No. You can always request a quote or apply for funding with TriMark for free, and it does not obligate you to accept an offer.

Before you sign an agreement, confirm whether the amount assigned from your inheritance covers the full cost of the transaction. Ask whether there are any separate processing, document, wire, or other charges, and have us explain anything you do not understand.

Can The Cost Increase If Probate Takes Longer?

Ask this question about every offer you consider. A fixed-cost advance should identify the amount assigned from your inheritance in the agreement, rather than leave you guessing how much a delay will add.

We will explain the proposed terms before you decide whether to accept our offer. Review the agreement itself for the amount assigned and any provisions that address delays, changes in the estate, or other circumstances. If the written terms do not match your understanding of the quote, ask us to clarify them before signing.

How Do I Compare Inheritance Advance Quotes?

Get the terms in writing and compare the same figures across offers.

A company that promises “low rates” hasn’t told you enough to know which offer leaves you with more of your inheritance.

For each quote, check:

  • The cash you receive now
  • The amount assigned from your inheritance
  • The difference between those amounts—your stated cost
  • Any separate fees or charges
  • Whether the amount assigned can change and, if so, under what conditions
  • How payment is handled when the estate distributes funds

For example, if two companies each offer you $10,000 now, but one asks for $13,000 from your inheritance and the other asks for $15,000, the difference in stated cost is $2,000—provided there are no other charges or materially different terms.

Compare the complete agreements, not just an advertised percentage.

Can I Lower The Cost of an Inheritance Advance?

You can start by requesting only the cash you need. Taking a smaller advance may mean assigning less of your future inheritance, although the actual offer will depend on the estate and our review.

It also helps to provide accurate information about your expected share, the probate case, and any debts, disputes, or prior advances affecting it.

Most importantly, compare written offers before deciding. You should be able to identify the cost in dollars and understand what you will give up in exchange for receiving funds early.

How Can I Find Out What My Advance Would Cost?

To get an actual offer, request a free quote.

After that, we will review the estate and probate documents and determine how much cash you would like to receive.

We will review your information and, if we can make an offer, explain what you would receive now and what would be assigned from your inheritance.
